What to Expect on Your First Muddy Mental Session at Shaws Bridge, Belfast

What to Expect on Your First Muddy Mental Session at Shaws Bridge Belfast

So, you’ve signed up for your first Muddy Mental session? Well, fair play! You’re in for a belter of a time down at Shaws Bridge. But before you arrive, there are a few things you need to know to make sure you survive—erm, I mean enjoy—your experience.

Things You Muddy Mental 100% Need:

  • Grippy Trainers: Forget your fancy shoes—what you need are trainers with some serious grip! Shaws Bridge is known for its mixed terrain and dirty spots, you don’t want to be on your hoop within the first five minutes.

  • Fitness Kit That Can Get Filthy: Don’t be wearing your brand-new leggings or fancy shorts. You’re gonna be clabbered in muck, so wear something that can handle a bit of filth.

  • A Headlight Torch for Those Darker Evenings: Autumn and winter sessions can be a bit on the darker side, so bring a wee headlight to help you see the ground, and the trees, puddles, mud, stones, benches, kit, and each other.

  • Bin Liners for Your Car Seats: Nobody wants brown stains on their car seats, but I bet you forget bin liners... don't forget them... you'll need them. But you'll forget anyway!

  • A Towel: For drying off your hair, your eyes, and maybe even your dignity by the end of it. You might look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards (because you have), but you’ll have laughed.

  • A Can-Do Attitude: If you don’t bring this, you’ll be buckin’ by the end. The mud might be deep, but with the right mindset, you'll be grand!

Muddy Mental Parking Details (Very Important!)

We’re meeting by the Old Shaws Bridge sundial, so ensure you’re in the right spot. There’s plenty of free parking in the small car park beside the bridge, so no excuses for being late! See the map on the Shaws Bridge page here..

Be Early, Or Face the Rewards…

This is crucial. If you rock up late, you’re in for a special kind of reward. And let’s just say it involves a wee extra dose of joy. So, be on time—or even better—be early.

What to Expect From the Muddy Mental Session

Expect mud. Lots of mud. There will be running, crawling, climbing, and the occasional slip ‘n’ slide—completely unintentional, of course. We’ll also be doing some fun group challenges that will have you working up a sweat, but don’t worry—it’ll be great craic!

So, get down to Shaws Bridge early, come with your grippy trainers and your can-do attitude, and let’s have some fun. After all, it’s not called “Muddy Mental” for nothing!
